School Zones in Effect: Slow Down, Be Alert

Schools zones will be strictly enforced starting Monday, August 11, 2014 in Baton Rouge.

20 mph zones will be in full effect in school marked locations from 6:30am – 9:00am and from 2:00pm – 4:00pm unless signs say otherwise.

All motorists are asked to “exercise caution” around bus stops and school areas.

There are several private school that will begin classes this week. All drivers should be aware of those school areas as well.

For twenty three million students nationwide, the school day begins and ends with a trip on a school bus. The greatest risk is not riding the bus, but approaching or leaving the bus. Before children go back to school or start school for the first time, it is essential that adults and children know traffic safety rules. -www.nhtsa.gov
